Transformers- more than meets the eye!- is an applicable tagline for a brand of robot toys that could change into different forms with parts transforming into animals, cars, planes, weapons etc. Transformers are actually known as “Robots in Disguise” because of its nature like ability to transform to any figure of its choice. Transformers have basic parts that are retractable and could be easily made to fit the other parts of the toy while creating a different figure such as a Volkswagen car, a 16-wheeler truck, a jet and other mode of transportations including animal like figures and so on. The first line of Transformer toys were originally created and made by a Japanese company named Takara Tomy and the first set of toys were known as Diaclone and Microman. A US company called Hasbro bought the exclusive rights to distribute the Takara line of robot toys in North America and renamed them as Transformers. Eventually Hasbro bought all the line of Transformer toys from Takara and bought the branding rights and copyrights while maintaining Takara as the exclusive distributor of Transformer toys in Japan. In time Transformers became a hugely popular brand of robot toys that are being distributed through more than 35 countries worldwide catapulting the robot action heroes into extreme stardom. Basically there are two types of Transformer toys: the heroes are called Autobots while the villains are called as Decepticons. The premise lies on Autobots’ mission to save Earth from the diabolical plans of the Decepticons to rule over the planet and make men slaves to the robots.
